The Power of Platelets in Breathing New Life Into Aging Skin

There are dozens of ways to rejuvenate your appearance and minimize fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, freckles, and lifeless skin on your face. Our team here at New Image Medical Spa uses chemical peels, BOTOX® and fillers, and intense pulsed light (IPL) to tighten and tone your skin’s imperfections.

As we study the latest research and invest in groundbreaking technologies, we have more options than ever before to keep your skin looking its best. One amazing treatment that can breathe new life into tired skin is a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial.

It may be one of the strangest-looking facial treatments, but it also happens to be one of the safest and most effective. During a PRP facial — often called a Vampire Facial® — you have your own blood, full of growth factors that promote healthy skin, painted on your face.

It might look odd, but there’s a reason so many celebrities have opted for this treatment. And you can join them!

What to expect with a PRP facial

Before we begin your PRP facial, a member of our team extracts a small sample of your blood. We place it into a centrifuge machine that spins it vigorously to separate out the platelets. We combine concentrated platelets with your plasma to create your personalized serum — the platelet-rich plasma.

We prepare your skin with microneedling. This process creates small wounds that serve as channels in your skin. After microneedling, we massage the PRP solution into your skin, allowing the platelets to penetrate deeply. As they do, the platelets deliver growth factors that trigger rejuvenation in your aging skin.

During this treatment, you look like you have a bloody face. Although the treatment seems peculiar, the end result is healthier, smoother, younger-looking skin. We cleanse your skin after the platelets have had time to penetrate, and you walk out our door refreshed and glowing.

The many benefits of PRP

Because the microneedling with PRP provides your skin with platelets that boost collagen production and support your skin’s cell turnover, this treatment powerfully addresses a wide variety of skin concerns. In the weeks after your PRP facial, your skin puts the platelets to work. This results in:

You get all of this with virtually no downtime. While many other facial rejuvenation techniques require a recovery period — anywhere from a few days with laser treatments to several weeks with many surgeries — you only need a few minutes to rest after your PRP treatment.

If you’re interested in unleashing the power of platelets to help you look and feel younger, call our state-of-the-art clinic — conveniently located in Fremont, California — or book your appointment online today.
